Qwordqross

A pen-and-paper game inspired by Hangman.

DIRECTIONS

Player 1 embeds a word in an M-by-N grid and tells Player 2 the length of the word they embedded. On each turn, Player 2 crosses out a straight line of X characters in the grid, then Player 1 crosses out a straight line of Y characters which do not share any letters with the embedded word. (For example, if the word is AIR, Player 2 cannot cross off any A, I or R characters in the grid.) Neither player can cross out characters that have already been crossed out. Player 1 wins when Player 2 either crosses out all the letters in the embedded word or runs out of available moves. Player 2 wins when Player 1 runs out of available moves.
